June 3, 2012 – Taste of Hawaii

Hundreds of people flock to this Rotary Club-sponsored annual event despite the $100.00 ticket price! And no wonder: It’s a veritable feast for the senses, featuring over 30 chefs from around the state along with myriad musical groups who provide all-day entertainment. Our halau graced the Opening Ceremony with oli and hula, after which we took the time to taste some of the delicious food and enjoy the beautiful property on which the event was hosted.

March 24, 2012 – Kahikina Concert at KCC Theater

It was a windy Saturday afternoon on when we joined Sabra Kauka and Naomi Yokitaki, their halau, and also musicians Walt Keale and Kanihou at the KCC Theater for the Kakihina Concert. The audience were wonderfully appreciative, interacting gaily with our sprightly emcee, and everyone had a glorious, colorful and enjoyable evening together. Garret Santos and Darryl Gonzales accompanied our dancers—the keiki, keiki mohala, and ladies of Halau Ka Lei Kukui Hi’ilani.
