As in previous years, the annual Hanalei/North Shore Lions Club Pancake Breakfast draws lots of attention and eager participation. April 13 saw aproximately 800 pancake breakfasts served to the myriad participants who gathered at the Hanalei Elementary School cafeteria. Fun and good food was just a part of it; most of the excitement was focused on the fundraising effort — the organisers were aiming to beat 2013’s record of about $13,000.
Funds raised at the yearly pancake breakfasts and silent auctions are channelled into scholarships, vision and hearing projects and other service projects, and therefore benefit to our people directly. About $10,000 to $12,000 is given out each year.
Halau Ka Lei Kukui Hi’ilani is honoured and happy to kokua this event once again, and also to enjoy the side benefits: eating pancakes and meeting up with friends. It was an enjoyable day for everybody.
